The Blogosphere.


The term is "participative journalism"

When a lock manufacturer failed to respond to consumers' worries that their new bicycle lock could be picked, the blogosphere, filled with angry comment and opposition, with experiences of the flawed device being discussed all over the Internet, the company was almost brought to its knees until it eventually recalled the product and fixed the problem. A little humility in the first place would have nipped the problem in the bud before the world needed to find out; such is the power of the Blog!

Blogosphere is a collective term encompassing all blogs and their interconnections. Blogs, which by the way are doubling in number every six months, exist together as a connected community (or as a collection of connected communities) or as a social network.  They are also, importantly, the beginning of what is now termed in some circles as 'participative journalism' which is commentary on the world by anybody anywhere.
